- 2 months ago LOVE THIS RESTAURANT! such great service, very attentive and AMAZING food. I never had Ethiopian before but boy, I'm sold! I loved it so much that I sent this note out to the host: I dined at your restaurant with a friend last night for dinner. It was delicious! I don't know if you remember but we had a brief chat where I told you it was both of our first experience with Ethiopian food! Your food went above and beyond our expectations (and our expectations were quite high by the great reviews we heard of your place!). We had the vegetarian and the Wass special, all with injera. It was fresh and all parts of the dishes were phenomenal- my friend who doesn't like beets ate 'em like she never have before! My personal favourite was the Yesemir Wat (I think that's what it is)- the reddish lentil dish. Eating with our hands was a ...

- 4 months ago Just returned from our first trip to the restaurant and have nothing but good things to say. The food was absolutely incredible. At one point i had to keep my hands under the table so I wouldn't overeat - it was that good. If you've never had Ethiopian food, this is the best place to start. Wass is the best host you could ask for, and seems so genuinely happy to educate you on each dish, and make sure you try as many different things as possible. The service was so warm and friendly, and made the entire experience that much more enjoyable. The scents and flavours of the food were delicious, and even though everything we tried was so different, it all compliments each other perfectly. Definitely try the honey wine as well! Didn't get a chance to try the coffee due to time constraints, but we'll definitely be back for that. Wass was roasting beans shortly after we arrived, and the smell was divine. Can't wait to go back!
- 6 months ago What a DISAPPOINTMENT! I have been to WAAS before. But this time the take out lunch combo was a rip off. The meat combo only included a chicken drumstick (as per menu), two tiny pieces of mutton ribs with mutton fat chunks and about a tablespoon of feta cheese. All these wrapped up in an Ethiopian flat bread and a rolled bread accompanied a load of gravy. The server conveniently forgotten the two veg choices listed in the menu. I know these are tough economic times, but should not be an excuse for thepoor quality of the take out. I could have gotten a better deal somewhere else for the same price in downtown Hamilton.
- 6 months ago I recently went to Wass after learning of their ample vegetarian offerings. As soon as I walked in, I was quite pleased with the atmosphere and especially the smell! Oh, the smell would be worth paying for. We were seated by the charismatic owner, who was very particular about only having the freshest ingredients and spices (shipped in from Ethiopia). At times, I thought he was going to sit down and eat with us, and I would not have objected to that whatsoever. The food itself was terrific, and spiced perfectly. I would advise everyone to try the chickpea wat. For the amount of food you get, the value is very good. Highly recommended.
